If you've ever felt anxious, sad, or overwhelmed about the impacts of climate change and the size of the challenges we face, you are not alone. We invite you to attend our Eco-Anxiety Peer Support Group — a place where our community can come together and grieve, share experiences, and navigate pathways forward that make space for hope.
Whether you’re struggling with climate dread, feeling powerless about environmental injustice, or just need a place to connect with similar people, this space is for you.
Our group is free and requires no registration. We meet bi-weekly on Tuesday evenings, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Le Frigo Vert (1440 Rue Mackay). It is a wheelchair accessible space on the ground floor. More accessibility info is available here.
Our programs are a semester long, comprised of seven sessions. You can attend one, some, or all of these sessions. Our program is inspired by the 3 R's framework of Rest, Recovery, and Resistance created by Shake Up The Establishment, a youth-led, non-partisan climate action organization. Read more about it here.
Fall 2024 schedule:
September 10, 24 and October 8: Rest
October 22 and November 5: Recovery
November 19 December 3: Resistance
Note: our group is led by fellow students, not mental health professionals. Our space is intended to provide emotional support and a sense of community rather than professional counseling or therapy. If you are in need of professional support, we encourage you to reach out to a licensed therapist, counselor, or mental health provider.
