Concordia science experts and industry leaders at May 17 event

Another very helpful part of the event was an introduction to the different types of funding opportunities and research networks in Quebec, and Canada that support health research with the potential for commercialization.
In addition to mini-presentations from the researchers, guests were treated to a science-themed art exhibition curated by Vanier Scholar Darian Stahl. Exhibits included photography and large-scale installations.
“I have never been in a room filled with such knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm,” said Steve Shih, from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. “I gained numerous contacts from industry and initiated a few collaborations with some professors. I am excited to see what is in store for the next event.”
The event featured opening remarks from both FAS Dean André Roy and Vice-President of Research and Graduate Studies Christophe Guy.
Participants seemed keen to repeat the experience in the future.
“I think having events like this is important to help get Concordia FAS 'on the radar' of the health research community - both public and private, and I hope we will have more in the future,” Piekny said.
