Ruben Perez, a former student in the Israel Studies Minor , has just completed and defended his Masters with flying colours! Congratulations!
The jury was extremely pleased with his work and asked him to write an academic article on his thesis to be published early next year in a French academic publication.
"The tile of my thesis is, Sexual jurisprudence family structure and community identity in orthodox Judaism. I chose this subject for a variety of reasons. I was interested in the interdisciplinary aspect of this research which combines religious studies, Israeli studies, psychology and sociology. I wanted to understand the way sexual morality and the laws attached to it regulate the social organization and structure of these communities. I also wanted to understand how sexual legislation impact religious duties and worship and how it creates different religious realities for man and women. My research work at the Azrieli Institute with Dr. Nikolenyi really inspired me to pursue a master’s degree and provided me with an amazing and extremely helpful research experience." - Ruben Perez
