Master Scriptwriting Class with Peter Lenkov
From August 24 to September 1, 2017, the Department of Communication Studies is offering a special Master Scriptwriting Class with Peter Lenkov, Executive Producer of Hawaii Five-0 and MacGyver.
This class will be the first in what we hope will become a series of intensive, innovative classes that will focus on scriptwriting for a variety of genres and media – all in collaboration with an experienced alumnus who returns to Concordia to share their industry experience. It will be open to Communication Studies students at all levels of study (undergrad, diploma, masters and doctoral), and students will earn 3-credits toward their degree upon successful completion of the course.
Taking an experiential and hands-on approach to learning, students will:
work together collaboratively in order to hone their professional and creative skills,
gain exposure to industry expertise and experience, and
develop a critical understanding of what it takes to successfully navigate the industry after graduation.
The 7-day long course will include:
an introduction to the crime genre,
instruction on how to write pitches and scriptwriting basics, and
a pitch session with Peter Lenkov. Details to follow.
How to apply:
Applicants must submit for review:
A letter of Intent describing why they want to take the class (150 words max.)
And, ONE of the following:
a treatment, with sample of dialogue (5 pages max.), or
