Concordia doctoral student Natasha MacDonald has been invited to participate in the 2023 National Indigenous Citizenship Forum
Concordia doctoral student Natasha MacDonald has been invited to participate in the 2023 National Indigenous Citizenship Forum.
This is a two-day Indigenous-only forum for Indigenous university campus members, hosted by the First Nations University of Canada and in partnership with the National Indigenous University Senior Leaders’ Association.
The purpose of the forum is to provide a safe space for Indigenous peoples to collectively self-determine their Indigenous futures in postsecondary institutions and beyond. Speakers, such as Murray Sinclair, former senator and chair for the Truth and Reciliation Committee, will include esteemed Indigenous scholars, Elders, and students.
Natasha will be one of four Indigenous student witnesses, a form of Indigenous praxis, who have been selected from across Canada to observe the presentations and discussions, listening for themes and provoking ideas. They will share their retelling and interpretation of what they felt, saw and heard during the forum to be included in the forum summary report.
Congratulations to Natasha for being honoured to represent Indigenous students across Canada at this important event!
