Congratulations to Dr. Eric Reiter and Dr. Steven High who are both slated to receive Governor General's History Awards!
Dr. Reiter is being recognized for his book "Wounded Feelings: Litigating Emotions in Quebec, 1870-1950"
In Wounded Feelings: Litigating Emotions in Quebec, 1870-1950, Eric Reiter traces the intimate experience of having our feelings hurt – given a more adult shape in forms such as shame, disgrace, bodily intrusion, betrayal, grief, anger and fear – through Quebec’s court system from the late-nineteenth to the mid-twentieth century.
Dr. High will receive the Pierre Burton Award for popular media:
Steven High is a leading oral and public historian whose research empowers individuals and broadens understanding of Canada’s multi-faceted history. As a co-founder of the Centre for Oral History and Digital Storytelling at Concordia University, Dr. High works collaboratively with the communities that he studies and is a pioneer in digitizing the life stories that he collects.
