Concordia CSLP members and UNESCO-PREV co-Chairs Ghayda Hassan and David Morin, recently participated in Les poussières de Daech, a Quebec documentary that aired on Télé-Québec on September 2.
The film is a follow-up to T’es où, Youssef? Gabriel Allard-Gagnon (Canada, 2016), a documentary on journalist Raed Hammoud’s search for his friend Youssef, a young Quebecer of Moroccan origin who left to join Daech.
Les poussières de Daech follows the aftermath of Youssef’s death and the fate of his young daughter living in a refugee camp. Leïla, Youssef’s sister, and Raed will go all the way to Syria to find the little girl. The film questions whether children should be the victims of their parents’ decisions to join terrorist organizations.
