Last October Vivek Venkatesh, Owen Chapman, Annabelle Brault and other members of the CSLP, along with several students and artists, had the opportunity to collaborate with Norwegian progressive metal star Ivar Bjørnson (co-founder of Enslaved). The result was HALKA - two evenings of performances that featured collaborations with Monastère Cabaret de Cirque and Oakland-based composer Leila Abdul-Rauf, which was attended by hundreds of Montrealers. For more information about this event, as well as some beautiful photos, you may wish to review this earlier story from our website.
The event has also now been immortalized in a new artbook publication by Jad Orphée Chami. This piece of creative writing summarizes the experience of attending HALKA and is accompanied by photos and artwork inspired by the shows.
