The book, organized by editors Nelson Varas-Díaz, Niall W. R. Scott, and Bryan A. Bardine, adopts a transdisciplinary approach to scholarship on experiences of extremity – helping to “understand what we gain, or lose, when we interact with it, create it, and share it with, or force it upon, others.”
The chapter by Brad Nelson is entitled “Quixotism and Extremity: Cervantes on Authenticity, Delusion, and Reality Literacy in Early and Late Modernity” and the chapter by Vivek Venkatesh is “Seeking the Banality in the Extreme: Prescient Identifiers of Vapid Narcissism in an Era of Post-Truth.”
