David Morin (Université de Sherbrooke) was interviewed on TVA’s Le Bilan regarding risks for radicalization in the wake of the outbreak of fighting. Morin, co-holder of the UNESCO Chair in the Prevention of Violent Radicalization and Extremism, spoke of the impact of this conflict on our society, as pro-Palestine and pro-Israel demonstrations take place around the world. In discussion with host Emmanuelle Latraverse, Morin articulated what he sees as the three main risks for radicalization:
- High levels of polarization and hate speech.
- Demonstrations that degenerate into direct confrontation and hate speech.
- Violent action by an individual, or a group of individuals, galvanized by conflict.
