The event was organized by APPRENDRE to present recent research and discuss avenues for improvement. In addition to international researchers, the event welcomed the Secretaries General of the Ministries of Education of Benin, Cameroon, Chad and Togo, as well as ministerial representatives from Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea and Madagascar.
Video recordings of the presentations will be broadcast following the event, on the program's YouTube channel.
Launched by L’Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) in 2018, APPRENDRE (Appui à la professionnalisation des pratiques enseignantes et au development de ressources) is one of the key actions of the French Presidential plan “an ambition for French language and multilingualism.” The program offers an expertise platform that supports Ministries of education on various aspects related to the professional development of primary and secondary school teachers. It covers 24 African countries, plus Haiti and Lebanon.
By working hand in hand with the Ministries of Education, the program targets managers of national departments and institutions in charge of formal education and lifelong learning of teachers. Reforms, education policy evaluation mechanisms, training programs and school projects are all tools available to governments to improve the quality of education for all. To provide them with the best possible support, APPRENDRE has set up committees of experts in education system management.
