Aisha Barise wins 2024 AAAL Graduate Student Award

Aisha Barise, PhD Candidate in Educational Studies (Language Acquisition Program at McGill University), supervised by Angelica Galante, is the winner of the 2024 Graduate Student Award (GSA). This award is made to the very best authors among the highest ranked proposals for papers submitted by graduate students for the annual American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL) Conference. The GSA award recognizes Aisha Barise's excellent research in the field.

The award will be presented at the 2024 American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL) conference in Houston, Texas, March 16-19, 2024.

Barise's presentation is titled "African Linguicide and Linguistic Famine: Reckoning with Biomorphic Metaphors and the Materiality of Colonial Violence" and the full abstract is available through McGill's Plurilingual Lab's website.

Aisha Barise, doctorante en études pédagogiques (programme d'acquisition des langues à l'Université McGill), sous la direction d'Angelica Galante, est la lauréate du Graduate Student Award (GSA) 2024. Ce prix est décerné aux meilleurs auteur.es parmi les propositions de communication les mieux classées soumises par des étudiant.es diplômé.es pour la conférence annuelle de l'American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL).

Le prix GSA récompense l'excellente recherche d'Aisha Barise dans ce domaine. Le prix sera remis lors de la conférence 2024 de l’AAAL qui se tiendra à Houston, au Texas, du 16 au 19 mars 2024.
