On March 25, the inaugural year of the CSLP’s EmpowerGrad workshops will conclude with Meeting the Neighbours, a semi-structured opportunity for master’s and PhD students in the Department of Education to engage with each other and establish meaningful connections. The purpose will be for students from both cohorts to discuss their own experiences, ongoing projects, and future plans.
The session will take place at the CSLP in our research-creation room (2.221) beginning at 4pm, and will be led by Rhonda Chung (PhD candidate in the Department of Education, Applied Linguistics). Chung’s research is interested in the sound of voices, specifically the act of listening: Are learners ‘hearing’ the whole picture of a language? Or is the classroom privileging certain voices over others? What is the cumulative effect on learners' perceptions of the target language?
