Zeina Ismail-Allouche presents at round table on family histories of boat people

On June 22, 2024, a special round table organized by Super Boat People and Concordia University’s Centre for Oral History and Digital Storytelling (COHDS) was held at open-access artist-run center, articule.

The What Travels Through Us exhibition is the fruit of a project that enabled a cohort of fifteen participants of Cambodian, Vietnamese and Laotian origin, whose families had experienced war and refuge, to reappropriate their family history. Beginning in the Fall of 2023, Super Boat People ran the "What Travels Through Us: Family History Workshops" project, in collaboration with both articule and COHDS where documentary filmmakers and other artists led workshops intended to delve into the personal experiences and journeys of various families.

CSLP manager Zeina Ismail-Allouche was part of a round table on the transmission of family histories alongside Rémy Chhem and Marie-Ève ​​Samson (Super Boat People), and Viet Tran (Sticky Rice Magazine), moderated by Eva-Loan Ponton-Pham.

Le 22 juin 2024, une table ronde spéciale organisée par Super Boat People et le Centre d'histoire orale et de récits numérisés (CHORN) de l'Université Concordia s'est tenue au centre d'artistes en libre accès articule.

Le vernissage de l’exposition Ce qui nous traverse est le fruit d'un projet qui a permis à une cohorte de quinze participant.e.s d'origine cambodgienne, vietnamienne et laotienne, dont les familles ont connu la guerre et le refuge, de se réapproprier leur histoire familiale. À partir de l'automne 2023, Super Boat People a mené le projet "Ce qui nous traverse : ateliers d'histoire familiale", en collaboration avec articule et COHDS, où des documentaristes et d'autres artistes ont animé des ateliers visant à approfondir les expériences et les parcours personnels de diverses familles.
