During an artist residency at Mexico City’s Centro de Cultura Digital, BANAL conducted a workshop with local artists with whom it activated its street data collection methodology.

Stoking some of the biases that shape Mexican-Canadian relations, politics and imaginations, the opinions of over 225 individuals were gathered across the two countries and showcased namely as part of a Dark Diplomacy performance headline by Doña Pancha Fest in the Museo de Arte de Zapopan (MAZ) in Guadalajara City.

This event worked in conjunction with their previous pop-up residency at Concordia’s 4th Space on June 13, where they invited Montrealers to partake in the making of a performance and to discuss and reflect on the notion of cultural diplomacy and its instrumentalization ahead of their Mexico visit.

Le collectif d'artistes BANAL, incluant Vivek Venkatesh et Annabelle Brault (membres du CEAP), Veronica Mockler (artiste en résidence du CEAP), et candidat.e.s au doctorat en Éducation des arts José Cortes et Leah Snider, était récemment au Mexique dans le cadre de sa tournée internationale Dark Diplomacy.
Au cours d'une résidence d'artiste au Centro de Cultura Digital de Mexico, BANAL a organisé un atelier avec des artistes locaux avec lesquels il a activé sa méthodologie de collecte de données dans la rue. Les opinions de plus de 225 personnes ont été recueillies dans les deux pays et présentées dans le cadre d'une performance Dark Diplomacy organisée par Doña Pancha Fest au Museo de Arte de Zapopan dans la ville de Guadalajara.
Cet événement a été organisé en conjonction avec leur résidence pop-up au 4th Space de Concordia le 13 juin, où ils ont invité les Montréalais à participer à la création d'une performance et à discuter et réfléchir sur la notion de diplomatie culturelle et son instrumentalisation avant leur visite au Mexique.
