Vivek Venkatesh, Dean of McGill University’s Faculty of Education, and former Director of the CSLP, has been named to the Fonds de Recherche du Québec (FRQ) Scientific Committee for Society and Culture.
The scientific committee for each sector is made up mainly of members (10 to 15) active in research appointed by the FRQ, the majority of whom come from public research or higher education institutions, with at least one member from a college and one student representative. Committee members will meet at least three times per year and are appointed to a non-renewable term of one to three years.
The scientific committees advise and make recommendations on FRQ research programs, reflect on the evolution of notions of excellence and open science principles, promote actions that encourage interdisciplinarity and links between scientific research and society, and will advise the FRQ’s strategic planning processes. The full details of the position are available in the FRQ’s press release (in French).
The CSLP wishes to congratulate Vivek on this tremendous accomplishment.
