On Saturday, March 22, the MORPH Sound System initiative took center stage at the artist-run centre perte de signal, where approximately 25 participants—women and queer-identifying individuals—gathered to build speakers and reclaim their space in sound system culture. Led by Tiana McLaughlin of MORPH Sound System and supported by CSLP member Owen Chapman, the workshop provided hands-on learning in speaker construction, from soldering to assembling cabinets and testing fully functional sound systems.

L'Atelier MORPH Sound System encourage les femmes et les personnes queer dans la culture du son
Le samedi 22 mars, l'initiative MORPH Sound System a pris place au centre d'artistes perte de signal, où environ 25 participant·e·s—femmes et personnes s’identifiant comme queer—se sont réuni·e·s pour construire des enceintes et revendiquer leur place dans la culture des sound systems. Animé par Tiana McLaughlin de MORPH Sound System et soutenu par Owen Chapman, membre du CSLP, l’atelier a offert un apprentissage pratique allant de la soudure à l’assemblage des enceintes et aux tests de systèmes sonores entièrement fonctionnels.
Cet événement était bien plus qu’un simple exercice technique ; il a constitué une opportunité de création collective, d’autonomisation et de partage de connaissances. Les participant·e·s ont non seulement acquis des compétences pratiques, mais ont aussi engagé des discussions sur la représentation et l’accessibilité dans la production audio.
