LCDS Principal Rosemarie Schade recently visited an organic farm in Frelighsburg, Quebec. The visit was part of an effort to provide more internship opportunities specifically focused on sustainable practices. Students taking LCDS’s summer courses LOYC 398D – Local Sustainability and Community Building and LOYC 398I – Fieldwork, will be eligible to take these internships for credit. These courses form part of a two-year pilot project with Fulda Technical University in Germany. The pilot project enables German and Canadian students to learn about local sustainability and provides an opportunity to put what they have learned into practice through internships with green businesses/companies. Last summer, these courses took seven Concordia students to the Vogelsberg region in Germany. Alternatively, six German students from Fulda will come to Montreal to learn about sustainability practices in an urban setting during the summer semester 2014-2015.
