This year, instead of our annual in-person Sustainability across Disciplines conference, the Loyola Sustainability Research Centre and the Loyola College for Diversity and Sustainability hosted a week-long series of online discussions on Sustainability and the Climate Crisis in collaboration with Concordia's 4th space. The event was even more of a success than our last in-person conference in 2019, with 425 people participating in the synchronous discussions via Zoom and hundreds more watching the recorded events on Facebook and YouTube.

"The success of the week is a nod to the quality of the work presented but also to the urgency of the climate crisis", noted conference organizer, Rebecca Tittler.

The highlights of the week included a comprehensive discussion of the current carbon budget with Damon Matthews; a facinating conversation about visions for a next-generation city with Ursula Eicker, Govind Gopakumar, Carmela Cucuzzella, Janis Timm-Bottos, and Erkan Yonder; an optimistic discussion about the Keep-in-in-the-Ground movement with Angela Carter; an inspirational panel on Careers in sustainability, featuring Katerina Fragos, Anthony Garoufalis-Auger, and Faisal Shennib; and much more. If you missed or would like to revisit any of the events of the week, recordings of the sessions are available here.

The College and Research Centre would like to thank all those who participated and presented during the week, the amazing team at the 4th space, and all those units that provided support for the series: the Office of the Vice-President, Research and Graduate Studies; the Faculty of Arts and Science; the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Smart, Sustainable and Resilient Communities and Cities; the John Molson School of Business; the Faculty of Fine Arts; and the Departments of Biology; Communication Studies; Economics; Geography, Planning and Environment; Management; and Political Science at Concordia University

Stay tuned as we continue the conversation next March!
