Dr. Mélina Mailhot
Dr. Mélina Mailhot's journey with CANSSI began in 2019 when she collaborated with former Regional Director and colleague, Yogendra Chaubey, to organize the launch of CANSSI Quebec at Concordia University. Her passion for the organization and its mission only grew from there, leading her to receive a CANSSI Collaborative Research Teams (CRT) grant a few years later, which further strengthened her connections to the organization.
Thanks to these relationships, Dr. Mailhot has now taken on the role of interim director for CANSSI Quebec. She was particularly drawn to the shared vision of providing additional support to the actuarial and statistical communities in Quebec, while also preserving and enhancing the province's dynamic research environment.
As a dedicated team player, Dr. Mailhot is excited about this new challenge and looks forward to working with several groups of researchers in actuarial science and statistics. Her main goal is to build upon the existing initiatives in the province, without overlapping on other great projects.
Dr. Mailhot is enthusiastic about her new role, stating, "The objective is clear in that we want the community to have more, without overlapping on all the other great initiatives in Québec." Her commitment to the organization and its mission is evident, and we are thrilled to welcome her as the new interim director for CANSSI Quebec.
