1. Massacre in Mirki: 18 arrested

- 18 people were arrested in connection with the massacre of Miriki, which took place last month.
- Since the massacre, tensions between the Hutu and Nande have worsened.
- Of those arrested, 10 belong to the Maï-Maï militia.
- They were arrested in Kanyabayonga and the village of Kabose
2. Ban Ki-moon in the DRC

- 22 MP’s of North Kivu seek involvement of the UN’s Ban Ki-moon.
- They are seeking International inquiry by the Secretary General with International criminal court, so crimes do not go unpunished.

- Ban Ki-moon arrived in the DRC February 23, he emphasized the need for collaboration between the FARDC and MONUSCO.
- He stated that the UN is working towards the restoration of security in the region.

- The governor of North Kivu, Julien Paluku, is satisfied with the visit of Ban Ki-moon in his province.
- He believes there will be solutions to the problems of insecurity in the DRC.
- This comes after UN’s Secretary General’s visits to camps and schools of those displaced persons
