1. Establishment of an independent operation to track down Kuluna
State-owned media

  • "Kuluna" is the phenomenon of an increase in violence with the involvement of weapons, and the rising toll of casualties over these past years.
  • It constitutes a serious threat to social peace, undermining public security.
  • A strategic plan to fight against urban crime has been established through MONUSCO and the PNC.
2. Growing insecurity for humanitarian organizations in North Kivu

  • Humanitarian organizations operating in North Kivu express concern and frustration at the growing insecurity affecting vulnerable people and personnel.
  • 1.6 million people are in need of assistance in North Kivu, including 780,000 displaced people, in which 80% are women and children.
  • In 2015, 31 aid workers were kidnapped. 
3. Local population concerned with murders in Kalemie

  • Three people were killed from June 3 -5. Three weeks ago, three individuals were stabbed towards Makala train station.
  • Those who committed the crime are described by wearing military uniform.
