AnnouncementsOn November 1, Kyle Matthews was appointed Executive Director of MIGS. On October 25 Countering the Trajectories (CONTRA), a new MIGS project with the goal of combating extremism and self-radicalization, launched its website. The project is part of the Peer to Peer: Challenging Extremism (P2P) initiative sponsored by the U.S Department of State, Facebook, and EdVenture Partners.
MIGS is pleased to welcome a new research associate to its team, Greer Nicholson. Nicholson is a BCL/LLB student at McGill and former Canadian Forces member and Brookings Institution Foreign Policy Studies intern. MIGS also welcomes Master student Louise Gregory, who is undertaking her practicum with MIGS, from the National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at Otago University, New Zealand. |
Upcoming Events
On November 30 MIGS will host the book launch of “The Global Impact of Religious Violence” (Wipf and Stock, 2016). The books three editors, André Gagné, Spyridon Loumakis and Calogero A. Miceli, will be present at the event.
On November 16-17, MIGS will organize the Global Countering Violent Extremism Forum in Montreal.
On November 18, MIGS will host Canadian and American experts on Countering terrorism and radicalization for a set of closed-door discussions on countering violent extremism online.
