Advocacy
MIGS and 35 civil society organisations have written to the European Institutions calling for the inclusion of enforceable human rights clauses in the EU-China Comprehensive Agreement on Investment ahead of the upcoming Plenary session of the European Parliament. MIGS and 49 genocide prevention organizations and experts called for a UN Commission of Inquiry on crimes against humanity and genocide against the Uyghurs. You can read the letter here.

On 20-22 April, MIGS will co-host the 2nd annual Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights Forum in collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Mitacs, under the patronage of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO. This year's virtual Forum will bring together NGOs, tech companies, foundations and governments around the globe that understand the need to collaborate on the future of AI and human rights. December 15
MIGS, in collaboration with Agence Science Presse, held the third digital town hall on COVID-19 and disinformation featuring Eve Dubé (medical anthropologist), Eve Beaudin (journalist at Science Presse) and Nicholas De Rosa (journalist at Radio-Canada). Patrick White (Canadian journalist and professor of journalism at UQAM) moderated the discussion. The event (in French) can be viewed here.

As part of the “Decoding Hate Speech” series, MIGS and Global Action Against Mass Atrocity Crimes hosted the fourth and final panel “Mobilizing the Community to Action”. The event can be viewed here.

In this third event in the series “Les midis du Monde d’après”, Karim Benyekhlef (Laboratoire de cyberjustice), Cynthia Milton (Centre d’études et de recherches internationale), and Kyle Matthews discussed the ramifications that COVID-19 will have for personal liberties and human rights in a post-pandemic world. This bilingual event was hosted by the Max Bell School of Public Policy, Laboratoire de cyberjustice, the MIGS, and CERIUM.
