Job vacancy: Technical Support for Members and Trainees’ Research and Development at the Centre for Research in Molecular Modelling (CERMM)

Position: Technical support on molecular and multiscale modeling

Location: Loyola campus, Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec

Type: Part-time (300 hours from September 2024 - April 2025)

Salary: 30 per hour +

Job Description: 

We are looking for an experienced senior graduate student or postdoc fellow to provide technical support to members and trainees at CERMM. The ideal candidate should have the experience of using the computational cluster and software tools available at CERMM.

They will be responsible for maintaining our Linux-based high-performance cluster, installing and updating software, and providing essential training for new users of the research facilities at CERMM.

Key Qualifications and Responsibilities:

  • Linux System Operation and Maintenance: Ensure smooth operation and assist users of our Linux-based high-performance cluster, including regular software installations and updates.
  • DFT Calculations: Application of Gaussian and/or other software for Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations to predict chemical reactions and sorption processes to help drug design, new material development, and environmental sustainability assessment.
  • Molecular Dynamics Simulations: Skillful of performing molecular dynamics simulations using software like Gromacs or LAMMPS for various applications in chemical and material engineering, system biology, chemistry and environmental sciences.
  • Demonstrate self-learning and problem-solving skills to advance the mission of CERMM that aims to promote research collocations between CERMM members and with other scholars within Concordia and beyond.
  • Effective communication with CERMM members and trainees on their research needs of using CERMM resources and provide technical assistance through multiple formats including but not limited to tutorials and troubleshooting.
  • Engage in collaborative research activities and provide technical support to connect researchers focusing on experimental work at Concordia with molecular and multiscale modelers at CERMM.
