The Philosophy Department is pleased to announce that Viviane Fairbank, MA student in Philosophy, has been awarded a Canada Graduate Scholarship (CGS) from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).
Viviane’s research project aims to understand deductive reasoning, as it occurs, for example, in mathematics, from the perspective of social epistemology. In this research, Viviane will draw on recent research in logic, social epistemology, the philosophy of mathematics, and empirical research on human reasoning and dialogue.
Canada Graduate Scholarships are highly competitive, prestigious awards. This success is a testament to the strengths of the Philosophy Department's graduate students and their high quality work. Congratulations, Viviane!
