External Award Recipients - Department of Religions and Cultures
Macalister Arendt (MA student) is the recipient of a one year SSHRC CGS-M Scholarship for her project "Making Space: Queer "Women's" Role in the Creation of the Christian Left."
Dustin Barker (MA student) was also awarded an SSHRC and an FRQSC for the period April, 2023-April 2024. The title of Dustin's project is "The Evolution of Determinism in Jewish Apocalypses.
Ellen Dobrowolski (PhD student) Ellen was awarded an SSHRC (2022-2026) as well as an FRQSC (2022-2026). The title of Ellen's project is "Missionary and Métisse: unsettling conceptions of the ethnic and religious identities of Sara Riel."
Sheridan Polinsky (PhD student) received an FRQSC for the period 2020 - 2024 for his project "Sufism in Late Mamlūk Cairo: The Mystical Teachings of Ibn Mughayzil."
Sean Remz (PhD student) is the recipient of the Beth Tzedec Men's Club Scholarship and the Musia & Leon Schwartz Scholarship through the Jewish Community Foundation.
Thomas Seibel (PhD student) Thomas was awarded an SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship for 4 years. The title of Thomas' project is "Gender, Poverty, and Ritual Innovation in North India During the Covid-19 Pandemic".
