Nancy Tapias at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights hearing on Climate Emergency and Human Rights

Nancy Tapias, the 2023-24 Barry Pashak Postdoctoral Researcher at the Social Justice Centre, was invited to participate in the Inter-American Court of Human Rights hearing on Climate Emergency and Human Rights in the hearth of the Amazon (Manaus, Brazil).

They proposed that climate justice must be understood as ethnic-racial justice and they explained the extraordinary efforts of Afro-descendant and Indigenous peoples to defend their territory, dignity and rights, and the urgency of strengthening their protection.
