The pioneering work of Professor Ted Stathopoulos from the Department of Building, Civil and Environmental Engineering has been profiled in Immobilier Magazine. Journalist Binh An Vu Van explored Stathopoulos’ lab in the basement of the EV Building, where the professor and his graduate students are helping the City of Montreal and other clients understand the effects of wind on buildings, as well as on the dispersal of pollutants in the densely-built up downtown environment. Wahab Hamou-Lhadj, an associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and his research team have won this year's People's Choice Showcase Award at the IBM Center of Advanced Studies Conference (CasCon). This was for a project called “TotalADS: An integrated anomaly detection platform" that was developed in Hamou-Lhadj’s laboratory. CasCon was held November 3-5, 2014, in Toronto.

Nadia Bhuiyan, a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, is the principal investigator of a new multi-institutional project called Lean Aerospace Value Streams, which received $1.3 million from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), Bombardier and Bell Helicopter. This project focuses on developing lean techniques for the aerospace industry, leading to increased efficiency and greater profitability.
