Abstract
Data warehouses integrate massive amount of data from multiple sources, which is primarily used for decision support purposes. These large data volumes bring significant challenges to database engines, requiring high level of query speedup. Data warehouses must have efficient Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) tools to process complex analytical queries satisfying the information needs of business managers and helping them to make faster and more effective decisions. Typical warehouse queries are very complex and ad hoc in nature and generally access huge volumes of data and perform many joins and aggregations.Improving query speedup in such environments is very difficult and can only be achieved by a combination of different approaches, in particular the use of materialized views, advanced indexes and parallel query processing. However, achieving quick response time with complex OLAP queries is still an open issue. In this presentation we proposed a technique to solve this problem, called DWS-Data Warehouse Stripping. We analyse the scalability performance of data warehouse striping system (DWS) system using different environments. By other hand, we may state that DWs are the core of sensitive business data and store the secrets of the business itself. Data confidentiality focuses on protecting data from unauthorized disclosure. Consequently, securing DWs against data damage and information leakage is a critical goal.
We propose a Specific Encryption Solution tailored for Data Warehouses (SES-DW) consisting on a lightweight encryption cipher for numerical values, which uses only mixes of standard SQL operators such as eXclusive OR (XOR) and modulus (MOD), together with additions and subtractions, that aims at balancing the tradeoff between data security and database performance. Experimental evaluation demonstrates the proposed techniques outperform standard and state-ofthe- art research while providing substantial security strength.
