WRITERS SOUGHT FOR COMBINE 2013 - Annual Undergraduate Juried Exhibition and Catalogue
NOVEMBER 4, 2013 - DECEMBER 6, 2013
CUJAH is currently seeking undergraduate art historians to write for the 2013 edition of COMBINE, Concordia University's annual Undergraduate Student Exhibition. Selected applicants will be paired with one of 13 featured artists, whom writers will have the opportunity to meet and interview, and will be responsible for composing a 500 word catalogue entry to be included in the printed exhibition catalogue.
Combine 2013 is the 28th annual exhibition of Concordia University's Faculty of Fine Arts undergraduates and is a unique showcase of the work of students across the Faculty of Fine Arts. Artwork is juried by student leaders from the VAV Gallery, FASA, and practicing artists. The exhibition is paired by a catalogue written by undergraduates from the Department of Art History. Entries are overseen and copy-edited by Dr. Anna Waclawek, art history department coordinator. The catalogue is designed by undergraduate students under the guidance of artistic director Nathalie Dumont from the Department of Design and Computation Arts. Throughout this discursive project, the scope of creative practices within the Faculty is illuminated as it brings the participating undergraduate students into a professional and fully public realm.
Additional information
Interested applicants should compose an original descriptive piece (500 words maximum) on a work of art of their choosing and attach it to the application form available on CUJAH's website (http://cujah.org/submissions-info/combine/).
The deadline for applications is Friday August 23 at 12:00am. Applicants must have completed at least 30 credits in Art History to be considered.
Submissions will be juried by CUJAH's executive team in conjunction with Dr. Anna Waclawek over the following week and writers will be notified of their acceptance and the artist with whom they will be working by August 29, 2013.
For further information or clarification regarding any questions or concerns, please contact Katerina Korola, CUJAH Editor-in-Chief.
