Vitrine Exhibition - Oli Sorenson: Art Google
Oli Sorenson, VJ, visual artist and PhD candidate at Concordia's Interdisciplinary Studies in Society and Culture, presents Art Google.
Oli Sorenson's Art Google series consist in using Google's search engine as primary creative material. Tapping into a range of canonical terms normally used to describe visual artists as singular "ex-nihilo" innovators, this project challenges such a conception that often prevails in wider audiences but which greatly contrasts with the processes operating in today's information rich societies. Originality, Talent and other descriptors - valued for their connotation to scarcity and time-consuming effort - suddenly change in character after quasi-instantaneously traversing the online search, submerged in a multitude of referents under the culture of globalised networks.
