Alumni win big at Jutra awards

Several Concordia alumni were awarded prizes at the 2014 Jutra awards ceremony, held on March 23. The Jutras recognize accomplishment in Quebec's film industry,

Louise Archambault, BFA 93, MFA 00), came away with three awards: Meilleure réalisation (Best Birection), Meilleur scenario (Best Screenplay) and Film s'étant le plus illustré à l'extérieur du Québec (Film with the most success outside of Quebec), all for her film, Gabrielle.

Richard Comeau, BFA 87, also won for his work as an editor in the film.

Gabrielle was a top nominee and winner at the 2014 Canadian Screen Awards. Additionally selected as Canada's submission for the 86th Academy Awards in the Foreign Language Film category but did not make the long list.

In related Jutra news, Simon Poudrette, BFA 98, took home the prize for Meilleur son (Best Sound) for Louis Cyr.

Also at the ceremony, part-time faculty member Micheline Lanctôt took home a lifetime acheivement award.
