Laporte was selected as the 2015-16 recipient of the Helen McNicoll Art Prize. The prize was established in 1975 in honour of Helen Galloway McNicoll, an impressionist painter, who was born in Toronto in 1879, and died in Dorset, England in 1915. Established by her niece, the late Betty Ann Elliott, the prize is awarded in alternate years to Concordia students in visual arts and art history who have shown exceptional talent.
Art Education undergrads Stéphanie Laporte and Christina Marie Phelps are having a good year!
Phelps was awarded the Bank of Montreal Undergraduate Scholarship. She won the prize based on her standing academic record. Phelps is currently in her final year of study in the art education undergraduate program.
