Dr. John Potvin presenting latest article at the Society of Architectural Historians

On March 27, Dr. John Potvin is a paper at the Society of Architectural Historians on the panel Queering the Interior: Shame, Masculinity and Twentieth-Century Interior Design.

This research was recently published in the March 2024 issue of The Art Bulletin. The article “The Materials of Shame: Decoration, Masculinity and the Birth of Modern Interior Design” asserts that the queerness of male interior designers from the interwar period has been overlooked in interior scholarship. Shame is the affect which can help in reconsidering them.
