Creative Arts Therapies' Flash Mob

On November 7, Creative Arts Therapies faculty and students held a flash mob at Concordia’s Open house with a sign language interpretation performance of John Lennon’s Imagine.

Organized by Sandi Curtis, music therapy graduate program director, the event combined playfulness, performance art and social activism.

Creative art therapists, and in particular, music therapists, have a deep understanding of the power of music to uplift and, at times, challenge us to rise above. Lennon’s Imagine is particularly appropriate given our current violent crises - the simple message of its lyrics becomes powerful and universal through the poignant music.

Curtis notes: “With our training in the use of music to heal, music therapists have a responsibility to also move beyond the therapy room to change the world in which we all live."
