Special Guest and Round Table: Do Television Programs Contribute to the Democratization of Dance?

On September 7, the Department of Contemporary Dance hosted a Round Table as part of Festival Quartiers Danses (FQD). Assistant Professor Angélique Willkie moderated the talk entitled: Do television programs contribute to the democratization of dance?
We heard from guests Nico Archambault (winner of So You Think You Can Dance; judge for the television show Les dieux de la danse; host of the documentary series Ils dansent); Fabienne Cabado, dance critic and general director of Regroupement québecois de la danse; Marc Béland, actor and former dancer with Lalala Human Steps; Rafiq Sabbagh artistic and general director Festival Quartiers Danses. Earlier that day, Dominique Duszinsky (centre, 2nd row), former dancer with Pina Bausch dance company taught a contemporary dance master class for our students. Ms Duszinsky premiered her new work Hymne, with pianist Nao Momitani at Festival Quartiers Danses.
