Congratulations to Francis-Carl Belanger, Aaron Patrick Belcher, Michael Leblanc and Gabrielle Thompson, who won gold at the 2012 Brock University Accounting Competition, representing Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business (JMSB). The competition was held from November 16 to 18 in St. Catherines, Ontario.

Nine teams, representing universities from across Canada, participated in the competition, which features business cases involving a mix of accounting and strategy challenges. This year, the cases required participants to tackle some difficult issues, involving new product development and corporate valuation.

The judges were impressed with the JMSB team’s strategic thinking and technical proficiency and were unanimous in their decision to award Concordia the first-place prize.

Second and third place went to teams from Laurier University.

The John Molson Competition Committee (JMCC) would like to thank Lead Coaches, Patrick Gagnon and Audrey Landry for preparing their team so remarkably well.

The Committee thanks Mark Haber, head coach and advisor to the Competition Program, for his dedication to the team. The John Molson Competition Committee also thanks sponsors Pfizer, Power Corporation of Canada, National Bank and Rio Tinto for their contributions to the competition program.
