JMSB Takes Gold at Ryerson’s Battle on Bay Street

Michel Berger, Ludovic Jacques, Dennis Kalaycioglu, Dinos Papoulias represented Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business (JMSB) at Ryerson University’s Battle on Bay Street financial management case competition. The dedicated team showed a lot of passion and exhibited much spirit, winning JMSB’s third gold in two weeks.

The competition, held in Toronto on January 17 and 18, is a venture capital-focused event with judges from different industries. The case focused on strategy implementation and negotiation rather than valuation. Financial information was agreed upon in advance between the venture capital company and the target company involved in the case. JMSB was the first team to present its recommendations.
The final ranking was:

  1. Concordia University (John Molson School of Business)
  2. Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University
  3. Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario

The University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University and University of Prince Edward Island also participated in the event.

The John Molson Competition Committee would like to thank Reena Atanasiadis, Amr Ezzat and Thomas Horvath for coaching this team and competition program participant Alexandra Duffy for helping prepare the team prepare for the Battle on Bay Street. Duffy was on the Jeux du commerce team that won finance gold two weeks prior to this competition.
