Best Presentation at Alberta Energy Challenge to Date Says Coach
Undergraduate students Katelyn Good, Caitlin Hurst, Alexandre Innes and Nicolas Lindstrom represented Concordia’s John Molson School of Business at the Alberta Energy Challenge (AEC) at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.
Despite being eliminated in the preliminary round, coach Amr Ezzat says he “wouldn't have changed a thing in the team’s presentation.”
“This was, without a doubt, the best presentation JMSB put together at the AEC,” he says. “Our students showed a lot of maturity in their recommendation and analysis. I am very proud of them.”
The case that students were asked to provide recommendations on was about the market access issues that Canadian energy companies face. “Our team argued that market access is merely one issue, among many, that stem from the fact that this industry hasn’t done a lot of long-term planning and has lost the public trust,” says Ezzat.
“The students put together a two-tiered recommendation to alleviate the market access issues and to lay the ground work to have the industry attain a social license to operate. It was the most extensive presentation I have seen.”
The John Molson Competition Committee (JMCC) would like to thank coach Amr Ezzat for the excellent job he did preparing the team for the competition.
The JMCC also thanks Mark Haber, head coach and advisor to the Competition Program, for his boundless commitment.
The Committee would like to extend its deepest gratitude to Exclusive Partner PepsiCo Foods Canada, Premier Partner Pfizer Canada, and Database Sponsor PODIO for their support and encouragement of the case competition program.
