Four Concordia undergraduate students, Robert Paulez, Alexander Carchidi, Sandra Morales and Dt Lam represented Concordia at the first-ever Engineering and Commerce Case Competition hosted by Concordia between March 12 and 16. Paulez and Carchidi are students at the John Molson School of Business, while Morales and Lam study in the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science.

The event attracted students from seven Canadian and three international schools. Participating universities sent teams of two engineering and two business students to solve cases submitted by the competition’s corporate partners.

The competition’s format was unique. Teams were asked to solve two different cases, one in an eight-hour period, the other in six hours. In each case, engineering students worked on product development while the commerce students established business plans to commercialize the product. The event’s finalists were the teams from the University of Alberta, Ryerson University and Universidad Iberoamericana.

The John Molson Competition Committee would like to thank Mark Haber, head coach and advisor to the competition program for his commitment and his contribution to the program.

The JMCC would also like to acknowledge the work of the Engineering and Computer Science Association.

The Committee would like to extend its deepest gratitude to Exclusive Title Partner PepsiCo Foods Canada, Premier Partners Pfizer Canada, Maxi and Power Corporation of Canada, Database Sponsor PODIO, and Associate Partner Canderel for their support and encouragement of the case competition program.
