Contenders for National Chief of the AFN

Following Shawn Atleo’s resignation as the National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations on May 2nd, some of the names of his potential successor have recently emerged – including Wab Kinew, the director of Indigenous Inclusion at the University of Winnipeg. Karl Hele, associate professor in the First People’s Studies Program, can share his insight on the difficulties that potentially face the new National Chief.
