ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

From P.K. Subban to Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga and Mark Zuckerberg, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has taken social media and the celebrity world by storm. The social media phenomenon is intended to raise money for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrigh’s disease. Fenwick McKelvey, assistant professor in the Department of Communication Studies, can share his insight into why these challenges go viral and their benefits to the charity.
