Boko Haram captures Bama

On September 2, the militant group ISIS claimed to have beheaded American journalist Steve Sotloff. The reported killing of Sotloff follows a threat made last month during the videotaped beheading of James Foley. In both videos, a masked ISIS member says the killings of the Americans are in protest of U.S. military intervention in Iraq. Henri Habib, distinguished professor emeritus, can weigh in on the political aspects of ISIS and Alan Conter, professor in the Department of Journalist, can discuss the safety of journalists working in these regions.
