Concordia grads up for multiple film awards

Two Concordia alumni have had their films nominated for several national and international awards.

Benoit Pilon's Ce qu'il faut pour vivre (The Necessities of Life), the tale of an Inuit hunter trying to survive in a Quebec sanatorium in the 1950s, has been nominated for eight Genie awards including best picture, best director and best screenplay. Benoit Pilon graduated from Concordia's film production program in 1987.

Up the Yangtze by Yung Chang (BFA 99) was nominated for both a Genie award and Indie Spirit Award for Best Documentary. The film focuses on how the building of the Three Gorges Dam in China impacted the livelihood of some two million people displaced by the rising waters of the Yangtze river.
