D.B. Clarke Theatre to receive a major facelift

D. B. Clarke Theatre to undergo refurbishment
May 4, 2010

The D.B. Clarke Theatre, one of Concordia University's premier performing spaces, will undergo a major refurbishing from June 24 to December 15, 2010.

The project is funded by the Knowledge Infrastructure Program and is part of the renewal of performing arts academic facilities on the downtown campus. The makeover includes upgrades to rigging, dressing rooms and the lobby, and new seating in the hall.

Regrettably, requirements of the funding program make it impossible to undertake the renovations at a less disruptive time. The renovations will necessitate finding alternate locations for classes, outcomes and events currently scheduled to take place between June 24 and December 1, 2010. The D.B. Clarke Theatre is expected to be ready for classes and community rentals in January 2011.

Says Catherine Wild, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, "We believe both the university and the Montreal community will benefit tremendously from the renovations, and we look forward to using the greatly improved facilities. We regret any inconvenience caused by the disruption."
