International scholars invited to conduct research at Concordia

For the 2010-2011 academic year, three sustainability scholars will be joining John Molson School of Business (JMSB) faculty and students to explore different areas in sustainability research.

The scholars complete two to eight week posts to help extend ongoing green research or to develop new directions within the area.

Timo Busch, ETH Zurich in Switzerland

Busch is an expert on carbon constraints and will examine its implications from a corporate strategy and global system's risk perpective. He will collaborate with the centre's Director, Paul Shrivastava, on developing strategic options for corporate responses to climate change. Busch will also take part in the centre's Speakers Series and deliver a talk entitled "Carbon Constraints and Corporate Performance" on September 9, 2010. Andrew Hoffman, University of Michigan's Ross School of Management.

Hoffman will focus on developing partnerships with sustainability-oriented faculty at JMSB and various stakeholders in the Montreal community. He will also continue his collaborative research with JMSB's Judith Walls on board diversity and interlocks in corporate environmental strategy.

Pascual Berron, IESE Business School at the University of Navarra in Spain.

Berron is an expert on corporate governance and corporate social responsibility. He will also work with Judith Walls to create a course on these subjects. He also plans to present his latest findings to the JMSB sustainability-oriented community. Berron currently serves as an editorial board member at Family Business Review and will extend his research on microenterprises and poverty alleviation policies by collaborating with the publication's Editor-in-Chief, CIBC Distinguished Professor in Family Business, Pramodita Sharma.
