Power talk: Engineering prof to appear on CNBC

Andreas Athienitis, Professor in Concordia’s Department of Building, Civil and Environmental Engineering and Director of the NSERC Solar Buildings Research Network, has been invited to participate in a discussion that will be filmed by the major American broadcast network, CNBC, in conjunction with the World Energy Congress.

The event will unfold before an exclusive audience at the Congress’ Energy Opportunities discussion on September 14. Athienitis will be an audience participant at a panel on renewable energy with Murray Stewart, president of the Energy Council of Canada; Rupa Devi Singh, MD & CEO of India Power Exchange; Jacob Irving, president of the Hydropower Association; and David Collyer, president of the Canadian Petroleum Producers Association.
 
Athienitis has been invited as both a Concordian and member of the NSERC Solar Buildings Research Network, which studies how to optimize solar energy in homes and commercial buildings and is composed of 24 leaders in the field from 11 Canadian universities.
 
Hosted in Montreal from September 12 through 16, the World Energy Congress is held once every three years and brings together some 3,500 world leaders in the field of energy.
