Imagine being stuck in the dark, far from loved ones and everyday comforts, for months. How does a person cope under such circumstances?

Raye Kass, a professor at the Concordia Department of Applied Human Sciences who has worked closely with astronauts, reflects on the challenges faced by Chilean miners who were trapped underground a San Jose copper and gold mine for two months and started emerging to the surface as of October 12.
