Two new appointments
Bram Freedman, Concordia Vice-President of External Relations and Secretary-General, has announced two new appointments in his sector.
Linton Garner will join Concordia on October 18, 2010 as the university’s first Community Relations Coordinator. He will be a key member of the University’s community engagement team and will play an integral role in launching the new Sustainable Communities Partnership.
Garner will assist in the development of systems, projects and operational activities that support the integration, practice and promotion of Concordia’s community engagement and social responsibility strategic direction as outlined in the university’s Strategic Framework – Reaching Up, Reaching Out.
With 25 years of experience in community relations throughout Quebec and Canada, Garner’s most recent position was as Community Development Coordinator for the Community Learning Center initiative with the Quebec Ministry of Education. From 2003-2006, he worked in the Office of the Quebec Minister of Education as a political attaché.
Over his career, Garner has been involved in advocacy issues, group development and team building, organizational development, event organizing, project management and needs assessment processes. He has worked on social justice issues, public housing, sports and recreation, social services, ethno-cultural relations, crime prevention, health, education, community development and sustainability.
Marie-Pierre Aubé will be joining Concordia on October 25, 2010 as Director of eDocs Management and University Archives. She will provide leadership and direction in the delivery of records management processes, with an emphasis on electronic document management (eDocs) and archives services for the university. She will promote and encourage awareness of the role and importance of archives and records management to the University community.
Aubé has more than 12 years of experience in document management. Since 2006, she has been Supervisor of Records Management for Molson Coors Canada where she has worked on a number of eDoc Management projects as well as overseeing the company’s historical archives program. She has developed various innovative tools and training programs to assist the employees of the company in records management practices.
Aubé is an active member of the American Records Management Association, Montreal Chapter, and is completing her training as a Certified Records Manager.
